Residents' Survey 2024

As a District Council we provide a number of essential services such as waste and recycling, environmental health, sports and leisure, parks and open spaces and action on climate change.

To make sure we continue to commit resources to best meet our residents' priorities we reach out to people across the District every two years with our Residents' Survey.

The questionnaire helps us understand what people think about Council services, how they are provided and how money is spent.

It offers an important opportunity to gauge public satisfaction and gain feedback which can help us identify where we can make improvements.

An integral part of our vision is to be driven by what matters to our residents and so it's essential for us to understand their priorities. This allows us to focus resources and work with the community and partners in doing our best to deliver those priorities.

Some of the highlights of results are:

  • 55% of people were satisfied with how the Council runs its services
  • 52% of people felt services were good value for money
  • 71% of people felt the Council kept residents well informed about its services
  • 75% of people were satisfied with their local area as a place to live
  • 70% of people felt they belonged to their local area
  • The top three services people were satisfied with were - refuse collections; doorstep recycling; parks and open spaces
  • The top three priorities people had for the District were - a safe District; well maintained green spaces; people are able to live independently
