Sign up for garden waste collections
It’s the start of a new year and Blaby District Council’s garden waste collection service is now open for 2026-27 subscriptions.
Garden waste collections take place every two weeks, on the same day as recycling. There are 20 collections, with a pause from early December to late February for the quieter winter season.
Subscriptions run from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 and this year our service is going greener as we are not sending out garden waste bin stickers.
New in-cab technology means our crews will know which properties have a subscription so stickers aren’t needed. We would urge residents, however, to ensure their property number or name is clearly displayed on their garden waste bin so it can be identified easily.
Sign up before 1 April if you want to be eligible for all collections for 2026-27. You can sign up after this but there will be no pro-rata reduction in the subscription rate and you are not guaranteed all 20 collections.
Existing Direct Debit customers don’t need to do anything if they want their service to continue. The re-subscription will happen automatically with payment taken on or around 2 March.
Any new customers who want to pay by Direct Debit should ensure they sign up by Sunday 15 February to benefit from all 20 collections.
There are two bin sizes available and no restrictions on the number of garden waste bins you can sign up for. Online prices for 2026-27 are:
- Small bin 140 litre - £33
- Large bin 240 litre - £48
Subscribers can pay online by debit or credit card or via Direct Debit.
It’s quick and easy to subscribe online - and it’s cheaper too - paying by phone incurs a £2.50 charge.
